If you stacked 10,750 pound coins on top of each other at the feet of the Statue of Liberty, they would reach the top of her head. This fact has spurred Consort Homes’ Phil Lee and Stewart Loben are aiming to pile on 10,750 pounds for Real Radio’s Real Appeal by running the New York Marathon on November 5th. In a genius piece of persuasion, they also managed to rope Sarah Wakefield from Real Radio’s news team into joining them.

Consort Homes agreed to fund the cost of sending the threesome to New York to contribute to the Real Appeal, which helps Children from all over the region at Sheffield Children’s Hospital

Phil Lee commented “We’ve set ourselves a massive target to help the only dedicated Children’s hospital in Yorkshire – nearly a 34 metre stack of pound coins. We desperately need help to raise this mammoth figure and are hoping that as many people as possible will text to add their pound to our pile. All three runners are also in need – of training advice as up until a few weeks ago, we could only run a bath!”

So far, the tremendous trio have raised £2,870 towards their target (a pile of pound coins of about 8.5 metres high). Progress of the rigorous training and fundraising will be broadcast regularly on Real Radio 106-108fm and can be seen on Consort’s web site at www.consorthomes.co.uk .

You can help by adding your pound to the pile by texting the word “RACE” to 81068. Your text will cost no more than £1.50 and all profits will go directly to the Real Appeal. If you have any training tips please send them to trainingtips@consorthomes.co.uk
