February 2006 - Head Found In Headingley
The head of an elderly Yorkshire man has been unearthed at Consort Homes’ Oakhurst development in Headingley. The head, still sporting a flat cap, is believed to have lain undiscovered for many years at the site previously occupied by Headingley Nursing home and Consort are now beginning a head hunt to trace its origin.
On the face of it, this may sound like a grisly discovery warranting an investigation by police head-quarters, but the item in question is in fact an ornate carving of a characterful face, sculptured from a tree stump.
Jack Bolstridge, Sales Advisor at the development of 2 bed apartments, made the discovery as he was opening up at the new View apartment, which has just opened at Oakhurst. “I was walking down the path when I noticed something in the undergrowth. When I moved the foliage aside, I was astounded to see a face staring up at me!”
Consort Homes are now keen to see if anybody knows of the origin of “Ed Ingley” as he’s been affectionately named. If you recognize the face, or know anything about this unusual find, please contact Consort’s Head Office on 0113 281 9191. Alternatively head down to the new view home at Oakhurst, Cardigan Road, Headingley where Ed may be seen every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 10:00am and 6:00pm.
